For the 10-year period since our accession to the European Union, over BGN 4.2 billion have been invested in transport infrastructure under OP “Transport” and OP “Transport and Transport Infrastructure”. This was announced by the head of the OPTTI Managing Authority, Galina Vasileva at the opening of a photo exhibition dedicated to the projects under the two operational programs.

With over 120 photos, the exhibition shows some of the largest and most complex transport projects implemented in Bulgaria so far, said Galina Vasileva. These include photos of the “Struma”, “Maritsa” and “Trakia” motorways, the railway lines Septemvri - Plovdiv - Burgas and Parvomai - Svilengrad - Turkish border, the Sofia metro system. The Western arc of Sofia Ring road, the navigation systems in the Bulgarian section of the Danube River and the Black Sea, the renovated railway stations in Sofia, Pazardzhik and Burgas, the Intermodal Terminal in Plovdiv, etc. are also shown.

By the end of the programming period, 12 new metro stations, part of the third metro line and 67 km of motorways are going to be constructed as well as over 190 km of railway lines and 6 key railway stations are going to be rehabilitated. Behind all these figures has been the support of the European Union for a decade, but also the hard work of many experts at national and European level, Vasileva also pointed out.

The exhibition will be in the City Garden in front of the National Theater "Ivan Vazov" in the capital until November 12, 2017.
