The European Commissioner for Transport Violeta Bulc has visited metro stations “European Union” and “Serdika II”, part of Line 2 of Sofia metropolitan, built through financing by the Operational Programme on Transport 2007-2013.
During her visit the European Commissioner has been accompanied by the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Hristo Alexiev, the Mayor of Sofia Yordanka Fandakova, the Head of the Managing Authority Galina Vassileva and the Executive Director of “Metropolitan” Ltd. "Metropolitan" EAD Stoyan Bratoev.
Despite the two metro stations the guests have visited the archaeological excavations above “Serdika II” metro station, revealed during the construction works of the metro station. The European Commissioner has said that she was impressed both by the archaeology and the contemporary design of the metro stations.
During the visit the Executive Director of “Metropolitan” Ltd. "Metropolitan" EAD Eng. Stoyan Bratoev has also got the guests acquainted with the progress of the construction of Line 3 of Sofia metropolitan, financed by the Operational Programme on Transport and Transport Infrastructure 2014-2020.
The visit of Violeta Bulc in Sofia is part of a Regional Transport Investment Conference, organized by the Mobility and Transport General Directorate of the European Commission in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications.
