The modernization of the railway station in Pazardzhik was completed within the deadline and value contracted without any incidental costs, announced the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Nikolina Angelkova during the opening ceremony.
Minister Angelkova said that that is the first modern European station that was realized under a project, which includes the reconstruction of the railway stations in Sofia and Burgas. She added that the premises provide the necessary facilities and comfort to passengers, as the waiting areas are warm and cozy and there is a service center, shops and good visual communication to navigate the passengers. There is access for people with reduced mobility.
“I hope that next year we will open the railway line Septemvri – Plovdiv, as it is important for all of us to be able to travel with our families in modern trains along new railway tracks”, added the Transport Minister.
The modernization of the railway station in Pazardzhik is at the amount of 3 359 793,09 levs without VAT. The site is part of the project “Rehabilitation of the stations along the TEN-T network – “Rehabilitation of Sofia Central Station”, “Rehabilitation of Burgas railway passenger station”, “Reconstruction and remediation of the station in Pazardzhik – Lot 2”, and was co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund under OP Transport 2007-2013. The contractor is Consortium Vector Engineering.
