The Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Danail Papazov and the Minister of Regional Development Desislava Terzieva inspected the construction works on Maritza motorway.
The two ministers visited Klokotnitza quarry where crushed stone for the construction of the motorway is produced. They inspected the progress of the construction of the two Lots of Maritza motorway. The total length of the motorway under construction is 65 kilometers.
The contractor of Lot 2 assured the officials that the site will be ready by the end of November. According to preliminary schedule the two Lots are to be completed by the end of the year. Some delays were reported, which were due to the gas and electricity pipelines discovered that were not indicated in the project. Currently there are some ongoing archaeological studies of six sites of Lot 1 that are to be completed by the end of August. The problem with the relocation of high-voltage electric transmission is dealt with.
At the moment there are construction works in progress on the two Lots as along the bigger part of the second Lot the first asphalt layer is already laid. The large road junctions are also under construction. Ministers Danail Papazov and Desislava Terzieva visited the road junction at Dimitrovgrad that is part of Lot 2. The contractors undertook the commitment to complete the facility by the end of September.
The physical implementation of the project on the two Lots is respectively 42% and 72%.
The Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Peter Kirov, the Chairman of the Managing Board of Road Infrastructure Agency Stefan Chaikov and representatives of the Managing Board of OP Transport took part in the site visit.
